Pune: The investigation into the murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal has shifted focus to a key piece of evidence his mobile phone. Investigators are trying to determine how the device ended up with his fiancée, Siya Goyal, after the incident at Lohagad Fort and whether any digital evidence was removed before it was returned to his family.
According to police, one of the biggest unanswered questions is how Ketan's phone came into Siya's possession immediately after the incident. Investigators said Siya later handed the device over to Ketan's relatives when they reached Lohagad Fort.
Officials suspect the phone may contain crucial digital evidence, including chats, call logs, photographs and location history. They are also examining whether any data was deleted before it was returned. The device has now been sent for forensic analysis, which is expected to reveal whether its contents were altered.
Investigators believe the forensic report could help establish the sequence of events before and after Ketan's death. If deleted information is recovered, it could provide important leads about the alleged conspiracy and the actions taken after the incident.
As part of the probe, Pune Police also seized the clothes allegedly worn by Siya Goyal on the day of the incident from her residence in Kondhwa. The garments will undergo forensic examination along with other evidence collected during the investigation.
Siya Goyal's police custody is scheduled to end on July 3. Based on the progress of the investigation and forensic findings, police are expected to decide whether to seek an extension of her custodial interrogation before the court.
