Pune: The investigation into the murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal has uncovered fresh details suggesting that the crime was carefully planned.

Police claim that one of the accused, Chetan Chaudhary, chose to travel nearly 90 kilometres to Lohagad Fort on a scooter instead of a car to avoid leaving electronic evidence at toll plazas.

Why Police Believe the Scooter Was Chosen

According to investigators, Chaudhary intentionally avoided using a four-wheeler as he feared toll booth records could help police trace his movements. Officials have since seized the scooter allegedly used during the journey as part of the ongoing investigation.

Alleged Plan to Conceal Identity

Police also claim Chaudhary attempted to avoid recognition after reaching the fort. Investigators said he wore a hoodie while travelling, removed it during the climb to the fort, remained in a black T-shirt while inside the premises, and wore the hoodie again before leaving.

Pre-Planned Signal Before the Attack

Investigators allege that the murder was meticulously planned. According to police, Ketan's fiancée, Siya Goyal, was assigned a specific role. She was allegedly instructed to sit down on the pretext of drinking water or tying her shoelaces, signalling Chaudhary to carry out the attack.

Police believe the signal was designed to ensure Goyal was not standing close to Ketan during the alleged push, reducing the possibility of him instinctively grabbing her while falling into the gorge.

Earlier Visits and Crime Scene Reconstruction

Investigators suspect the accused had visited Lohagad Fort before the incident to identify a suitable location and rehearse the alleged plan. Police are still examining where these trial runs took place.

On Sunday, the investigation reached a crucial stage as officers brought Siya Goyal to Lohagad Fort to recreate the sequence of events using a dummy. The reconstruction is expected to help investigators verify the chain of events and strengthen the evidence.

Ketan Agarwal died after allegedly being pushed into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Police have arrested Siya Goyal and her alleged partner, Chetan Chaudhary, on charges of criminal conspiracy and murder. Both remain in police custody, and investigators are expected to seek an extension of their remand as the probe continues.
