Lucknow: A chilling triple death case in Uttar Pradesh’s capital has taken a fresh twist as police investigate a possible link between a Rs 1.5 crore alimony dispute, a troubled marriage and a WhatsApp status allegedly posted before the deaths. The case involving SBI employee Manas Bajpai, his estranged wife Divya Mishra and his sister Sheeba has shocked residents and raised questions over what triggered the deadly chain of events.

SBI employee Manas Bajpai allegedly shot dead his wife Divya Mishra outside her workplace in Gomti Nagar before returning to his residence, where his sister Sheeba Bajpai was killed and he later died by suicide. Police are now analysing CCTV footage, digital records, family disputes and financial disagreements to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine the possible motive behind the tragedy.

Rs 1.5 Crore Alimony Dispute Becomes Key Probe Angle

The biggest twist in the Lucknow triple death case has emerged from the couple’s ongoing divorce proceedings. Police are scrutinising whether a reported Rs 1.5 crore alimony demand raised during a family court hearing became one of the factors that escalated tensions between Manas Bajpai and Divya Mishra.

The hearing on August 18 reportedly brought the financial settlement issue into focus. Investigators suspect that developments during the court proceedings may have added further stress to an already strained relationship.

However, police have not reached any final conclusion that the alimony dispute alone triggered the killings. Officials are examining several possibilities, including marital conflict, family disagreements, emotional pressure and personal differences between the couple. The investigation is focused on understanding the events that unfolded after the divorce hearing and whether any specific incident acted as a turning point.

Divorce Battle Became Centre of Investigation

Manas Bajpai and Divya Mishra had a court marriage in 2017. According to relatives, the couple shared a stable relationship during the initial years, but differences gradually developed over domestic matters and family issues.

The couple had no children and had reportedly been living separately since November 2025 after their relationship became increasingly strained. Divya filed for divorce in January 2026, beginning a legal separation process that is now being closely examined by investigators.

Police are analysing the timeline of the divorce proceedings, communication between the couple and developments before the killings to understand whether the legal dispute had any connection with the tragedy.

Family Dispute Over Sheeba Also Under Scanner

Apart from the reported alimony dispute, police are also probing another major issue involving Manas’s younger sister Sheeba Bajpai. According to preliminary findings, Divya reportedly did not want to continue living with Sheeba, while Manas wanted his sister to stay with him.

Investigators are examining whether this family disagreement contributed to growing tensions between the couple over the years. The role of domestic disputes, family circumstances and personal relationships is being analysed along with financial and digital evidence.

Three Deaths, One Day of Horror

The incident unfolded on Thursday afternoon and left Lucknow residents stunned. According to police, Manas allegedly reached Divya’s workplace at a private bank branch in Gomti Nagar and called her outside.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area to reconstruct the moments before the shooting. Police suspect that after an argument, Manas allegedly attacked Divya before leaving the spot.

After the incident, he reportedly travelled to his residence near Husadiya Crossing, where his sister Sheeba was present. Police suspect that Manas later killed Sheeba before taking his own life. The incident created panic among local residents as a personal dispute allegedly turned into a devastating tragedy involving three members of the same family.

WhatsApp Status, CCTV Footage and Three Guns Under Police Scanner

Investigators are treating the case as a serious criminal probe and examining whether the killings were planned. Police have recovered three firearms and are analysing CCTV footage, call records, electronic data and forensic evidence.

The reported movements of Manas before the incident are also being examined to determine whether there was prior planning. Police teams are questioning bank employees, security guards, neighbours, relatives and other witnesses to establish the complete timeline of events.

A WhatsApp status allegedly posted by Manas after the killings has added another layer of mystery to the investigation. Police are analysing the message in which he reportedly accused his wife of betrayal and referred to his decision to end his own life. The alleged status also mentioned Divya’s sister Pragya Mishra and her husband Bharat Yadav.

Divya’s family has denied any involvement of Pragya and Bharat, saying they had no information about any such plan. Investigators are verifying all claims mentioned in the message through digital analysis and witness statements.

Divya’s Family Raises Allegations Over Marital Problems

Following the tragedy, Divya’s sister Pragya Mishra spoke about her sister’s married life and alleged that Divya had faced difficulties in the relationship. She claimed that Divya had been under emotional pressure and had struggled with problems during her marriage.

She also alleged that Divya had earlier suffered injuries after an accident and had returned to work while recovering. Police have not confirmed these allegations and are examining all claims independently as part of the ongoing investigation.

Divya Mishra was working as a relationship manager at a private bank in Lucknow. Manas Bajpai was associated with the State Bank of India and was living separately with his younger sister Sheeba in a rented accommodation near Husadiya Crossing.

After separating from Manas, Divya was reportedly staying with her parents in Lucknow. The deaths of the three family members have left relatives, neighbours and colleagues in deep shock.

The Lucknow triple death case has triggered a wider debate around escalating marital disputes, prolonged legal battles and the need for timely intervention during family conflicts. Experts often highlight that unresolved personal disputes, emotional distress and lack of support systems can sometimes push situations towards dangerous outcomes.

Police teams are continuing to investigate every possible angle, including the reported Rs 1.5 crore alimony dispute, family disagreements, CCTV footage and the alleged WhatsApp status. Forensic analysis, electronic evidence and statements from people connected with the case will play a crucial role in determining the exact sequence of events.
