Man held in Kota for alleged death threats to Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi/Kota: Rajasthan Police have detained a man in Kota after a video surfaced online in which he allegedly threatened to shoot Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and 25 Members of Parliament.
According to police, the accused - who identified himself as Raj Singh in the video - claimed to be a spokesperson of the Karni Sena. He also referred to a recent incident in the Lok Sabha during the Budget Session of Parliament.
Allegations Linked to Budget Session Dispute
As per the media report, the accused alleged that BJP and Karni Sena workers were angered by purported remarks made against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla during the first phase of the recently concluded Budget Session.
In the viral video, the man issued direct threats, stating that if such incidents were repeated, he would enter the MPs’ homes and vandalize them. He specifically targeted Rahul Gandhi, allegedly warning that he would “enter your home and shoot you” if similar events occurred again.
He further claimed that if the 25 MPs were not arrested within 24 hours, they would be shot “one by one.”
Police Detain Accused After Video Goes Viral
Following the circulation of the video on social media, Kota Police took swift action. Kota Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam confirmed that the accused has been detained at Borkheda Police Station and is being questioned.
Authorities are investigating the origin and intent of the video and assessing any potential security implications.
BJP and Karni Sena Deny Links
In the background of the viral clip, a photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Speaker Om Birla shaking hands was reportedly visible.
However, both the BJP and the Karni Sena have distanced themselves from the accused. BJP Kota city president Rakesh Jain stated that the individual shown in the video has no affiliation with the party.
The investigation is ongoing.
