Mumbai: Mumbai Mayor Ritu Rajesh Tawde received a threat email on Friday morning warning of attacks on her office, Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s India Tour concert at Mahalaxmi Racecourse on November 27, and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

The threat comes amid security concerns surrounding Dosanjh’s concerts, with Delhi Police having denied permission for his scheduled October 30 performance in the national capital, citing specific threat-related inputs and law and order commitments.

Delhi Police Cites Security Concerns

Delhi Police communicated its decision to ticketing partner BookMyShow. However, as of Thursday evening, the concert listing remained available on the platform’s app and website.

Dosanjh’s "Aura India Tour" concert was scheduled to take place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. In a letter to BookMyShow, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South District) said:

“With reference to your application, I am to inform you that your request for organising Diljit Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour Delhi at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on 30.10.2026 has been examined by this office. In view of the specific threat-related inputs, coupled with the multifarious security and law and order commitments arising out of the ongoing festive season and other important law and order concerns, the same cannot be acceded to.”

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal confirmed that permission had not been granted but declined to share further details.

Hoax Bomb Threats Add To Security Concerns

A senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the festive rush was among the factors behind the decision. The officer also cited a hoax bomb threat email sent to multiple schools in Delhi on the morning of October 15.

The email students against attending Dosanjh’s October 30 concert. It also contained pro-Khalistani slogans.

Six schools reportedly received the threatening email, including The British School, Mount Carmel, Ahlcon International School and Ahlcon Public School.

The latest threat email received by Mumbai Mayor Tawde has added to concerns surrounding the singer’s upcoming performances. The email reportedly named Dosanjh’s November 27 concert at Mahalaxmi Racecourse, along with Tawde’s office and Amitabh Bachchan.

Dosanjh and his team have not yet commented on the developments.
