Palakkad: A 58-year-old man convicted of murdering two members of a neighbouring family in Kerala shocked a Palakkad court by declaring that he had no remorse and could kill again if anyone obstructed him.
Chenthamara made the remarks before the Additional District and Sessions Court convicted him of killing his neighbour Sudhakaran and Sudhakaran’s mother, Lakshmi, in January 2025.

According to public prosecutor M.J. Vijayakumar, the statement came after the court referred to a probation officer’s report which said the accused showed no moral guilt and continued to pose a serious threat to society.
Chenthamara allegedly told the court that he was “not a Gandhian” and would repeat the crime if someone came in his way. He also reportedly asked the judge to hang him.
The court found him guilty of murder and wrongful restraint under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Arguments on the quantum of punishment are scheduled for July 15.
The prosecution said it would seek the death penalty, citing the brutality of the offence, the accused’s criminal history and his complete absence of remorse.
Prosecutors said witness testimonies, medical reports, forensic findings and circumstantial evidence established Chenthamara’s involvement. The police investigation and scientific collection of evidence were described as crucial to securing the conviction.

Chenthamara was on bail in another murder case when he allegedly entered Sudhakaran’s house at Pothundy near Nenmara on January 27, 2025, and attacked Sudhakaran and Lakshmi with a machete.
He had earlier been convicted of murdering Sudhakaran’s wife, Sajitha, in 2019. In that case, he received two life sentences and a fine of ₹3.25 lakh. The prosecution claimed Chenthamara held a long-standing grudge against the family after an astrologer allegedly blamed them for his wife leaving him.
