Rae Bareli: A district court in Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli has delivered its verdict in the high-profile Aditya Singh alias Ravi murder case. The court sentenced 14 accused to life imprisonment, while two others were acquitted due to lack of sufficient evidence.
Government lawyer Vivek Singh said that the court awarded life imprisonment to several accused, including Samajwadi Party leader RP Yadav, Somu Dhaba owner Suresh Yadav, and his son Arpit Yadav, along with 11 other accused.
The court acquitted RK Yadav and AP Singh, citing a lack of adequate evidence against them.
The case dates back to 2019 when student Aditya Singh alias Ravi was brutally murdered. A total of 16 people, including the owner of Somu Dhaba located in Ratapur and his son, were named as accused in the case.
After a long trial based on witness statements and evidence presented before the court, the district judge found 14 accused guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment. The remaining two accused were given the benefit of doubt and acquitted.

Following the verdict, Aditya Singh’s sister Ruchi Singh expressed disappointment, calling the judgment incomplete. She alleged that Avtej Singh and RK Yadav were the main accused in the murder and said she would approach the High Court against their acquittal.
Ruchi Singh claimed that eyewitnesses had also named the two accused and expressed concerns over her own safety. She said that the 14 people convicted by the court were punished based on evidence and thanked the judiciary for the decision.
She further alleged that the accused were part of a criminal group involved in her brother’s murder and said CCTV footage and other evidence had played an important role in the case.
The court’s decision has once again brought the 2019 Aditya Singh murder case into the spotlight, with the verdict being seen as a significant development for the victim’s family.
