Rajasthan: Couple die after consuming poison following a quarrel

Bharatpur: A couple died after consuming a poisonous substance following a domestic quarrel in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan on Tuesday, police said.

Police sources said that Surendra and his wife, Rina, residents of Madapura village, consumed poison at their home after a dispute on Monday night.

Their children were present at home during the incident. When the couple started vomiting, the children began crying, alerting the neighbours.

The neighbours found the couple unconscious and rushed them to the Rudawal government hospital late at night, from where they were referred to the district hospital. Both Surendra and Rina died at the hospital on Tuesday early morning.

Earlier Incident

A similar incident happened in March when a young couple allegedly committed suicide after consuming poison in Uttar Pradesh's Auraiya, officials said.

The couple were from two different villages. The incident was reported in Phaphunda police station area.

Identification of Deceased

The man has been identified as Vinod Yadav, 25, a resident of Kanchanpurva village. He was an auto driver. He fell in love with a girl named Asiya from his neighboring village Bhurepur.

Both these villages are located at a distance of one and a half kilometer. Both had different religions, which became an obstacle in their marriage and due to this they allegedly took the extreme step.

Both the families had raised objection to their relationship. They couple consumed poison on Monday night.

A passerby found the couple unconscious and informed the couple's family and the police.

Police on Suicide

The police immediately reached the spot and rushed the couple to the medical college in Chicholi. Both died during the treatment.

Police Station in-charge Jai Prakash Pal said that both the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The police will initiate further action after receiving the complaint.

Another Suicide Incident

In an another tragic incident, a couple allegedly committed suicide after killing their two children in Hyderabad.

The bodies were found at their residence in Habsiguda in Ravindranagar Colony on Monday night.  The bodies of the man and woman were found in separate rooms, while their minor children were found dead on the bed.

According to the police, preliminary inquiry suggested that the couple had first strangled their children to death, before taking the extreme step. The police has recovered a purported suicide note, which revealed that they took the extreme step due to financial issues.
