Howrah Station Fire Twist
New Delhi: New evidence has emerged in the fire incident reported at Howrah Station in West Bengal, where the Mithila Express was earlier affected by a sudden blaze. CCTV footage, now under investigation, shows an unidentified individual allegedly throwing an object onto the station premises, which immediately caught fire.
The incident took place during peak operational hours, creating panic among passengers and railway staff.
The nearly two-minute video reportedly captures railway police personnel and bystanders rushing to the spot to control the flames. Their prompt action helped prevent the fire from spreading further or causing major damage to station property or nearby train operations.
Officials believe the act may not have been accidental and are examining it as a possible case of deliberate sabotage aimed at disrupting railway operations and creating public panic.
Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to identify the person seen in the CCTV footage. Security has also been strengthened at Howrah Station and surrounding railway infrastructure as a precautionary measure.
Officials are reviewing surveillance inputs and coordinating with railway security teams to prevent any similar incidents in the future.
