Pune: The brother of murder accused Siya Goyal has said the family had no knowledge of her alleged relationship with co-accused Chetan Chaudhary, claiming she had described him as "just a friend" and had maintained that she wanted to marry Ketan Agarwal, whose death is being investigated as an alleged murder.

Siya and Chetan are currently in police custody in connection with the alleged murder of Pune-based businessman Ketan Agarwal, who died after falling from a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Investigators allege the two conspired to kill him.

'She Said Chetan Was Only a Friend'

Speaking about his statement to investigators, Sahil said Siya had described Chetan as only a friend and never admitted to being in a relationship with him.

According to Sahil, she had promised him that she would end all contact with Chetan and move forward with her marriage to Ketan. He said the family had no reason to suspect otherwise, as Siya was actively involved in planning the wedding, including discussions about the pre-wedding shoot, songs and venue.

Sahil added that had Siya expressed a desire to marry Chetan instead, he would have informed their parents and suggested calling off the engagement.

Brother Says He Cooperated With Police

Sahil said he has fully cooperated with the investigation and that his statement was recorded over several hours. He maintained that he shared the same account with investigators during questioning.

Legal Dispute Over Representation

Separately, Sahil said he received a ₹10-crore defamation notice from advocate Aashutosh Srivastava after claiming that the family had not appointed him to represent Siya.

The lawyer has denied the allegation, asserting that his appointment was lawful and warning of legal action if the claims are not withdrawn. Meanwhile, advocate Vipul Dushing has also stated that he is representing Siya's family.

Police continue to investigate the case, while both accused remain in custody as the probe progresses.
