Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M Removed
New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday evening took a major administrative decision by removing Lokesh M from the post of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Noida Authority. The move comes amid growing questions and public outrage over the tragic death of software engineer Yuvraj Mehta.
According to sources, the government action follows increasing scrutiny of the circumstances surrounding Mehta’s death, which has sparked widespread concern and demands for accountability. While the government has not yet issued a detailed statement explaining the decision, the timing of Lokesh M’s removal suggests it is linked to the handling of the case and related administrative lapses.
The incident has triggered strong reactions from various quarters, with calls for a thorough investigation and stricter oversight of authorities. Further details on the government’s next steps and the appointment of a new CEO are awaited.
The tragic death of a car-borne engineer in Noida has shaken the Uttar Pradesh government, prompting swift and strict action from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Taking cognisance of the incident, the Chief Minister on Monday removed Dr Lokesh M, CEO of the Noida Authority, from his post and placed him on the waiting list. Lokesh M had been serving as the Noida Authority chief since July 2023.
In an official order, the state government said that the matter would be investigated on a fast-track basis. Acting on the Chief Minister’s instructions, a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the incident.
The SIT will be headed by the Meerut Divisional Commissioner and will include the ADG, Meerut Zone, and the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD). The team has been directed to complete the probe within five days and submit its report directly to the Chief Minister.
The incident took place in Sector-150, where an unfinished mall project of Lotus Green builder has an open basement that was reportedly filled with rainwater. The engineer, who was travelling by car, got trapped inside the flooded basement and died. Following the incident, serious questions were raised about the negligence of both the administration and the builder.
The Uttar Pradesh government’s actions signal a zero-tolerance approach towards administrative lapses and negligence in infrastructure safety. The findings of the SIT are expected to play a crucial role in determining further action against those found responsible in the case
