Sonauli: 2 arrested for waving weapons on social media; Illegal pistols recovered

Sonauli Border: Sonauli police took strict action against those who made reels with illegal weapons and made them viral on social media and arrested two youths in the early hours of Wednesday.

This action was taken under a special campaign, in which one illegal pistol and two live cartridges were recovered. The police registered a case under the Arms Act in this matter and presented the accused in the court.

Police action

A joint team of outpost in-charge Brijbhan Yadav, Sub Inspector Arvind Kumar, Constable Abhimanyu Singh and Vishal Singh took this action while checking suspicious persons and vehicles.

On the information of the informer, both the youths were surrounded and caught near village Jara Pokhara at around 5:35 am. During the search, one 0.32 bore illegal pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from them.

Arrested accused

1. Mohammad Arif, son Abdul Islam, resident of Ward No. 1, Ambedkar Nagar, Thana Sonauli, age about 22 years

2. Sudeep Sahni, son Harischandra Sahni, resident of Semrahna, Thana Bargadwa, age about 18 years

Confession of the accused

During interrogation by the Sunauli police, all three admitted that they used to make videos waving weapons on social media and make them viral to gain fame. Their act was spreading a wrong message in the society, due to which the police took immediate action.

Legal action

On the basis of the recovered weapons, FIR was registered in Thana Sonauli under case crime number 66/2025, section 3/5/25 Arms Act. The accused were produced in the Hon'ble Court for further legal action.

Police's stand

Station in-charge Ajit Kumar Singh said that the campaign against those who display illegal weapons and create wrong influence on social media will continue. He appealed to the public to immediately inform the police about such activities. This action is an important step towards maintaining peace and security in the region.
