Sultanpur’s wanted criminal, Siraj Ahmed, who has 30 cases registered against him for murder and other serious crimes, was arrested by the police during a cordon and search operation in the Gangoh police station area of Saharanpur. Siraj was seriously injured in the exchange of fire with the police.

Saharanpur: On December 20/21, the STF headquarters received information that Siraj Ahmed, a murderer from Sultanpur, had crossed the Punjab-Haryana border and was present in the Gangoh police station area of Saharanpur. Acting on the informant's tip, the police immediately launched a cordon and search operation.
During the operation, Siraj opened fire on the police. The police retaliated in self-defense, seriously injuring Siraj. He was immediately admitted to a nearby hospital.

The police recovered a large quantity of weapons and other items from Siraj, including:
Motorcycle
.30 bore and .32 bore pistols
Live cartridges (.30 and .32 bore)
Spent cartridges
Four mobile phones
Two Wi-Fi dongles
A small bag and some documents, including an Aadhaar card
Siraj has more than 30 cases registered against him in various police stations of Uttar Pradesh, including serious charges such as murder, attempted murder, and offenses under the National Security Act (NSA). A reward of Rs. 1,00,000 had been announced for his arrest.
The vigilance and prompt action of the STF team prevented a major incident. Police officials stated that the cordon and search operation and the subsequent encounter have strengthened the security situation in the area. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other associates of the accused in the coming days.
