Bhopal: A Bhopal court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of Samarth Singh and his mother, Giribala Singh, till July 14 in connection with the alleged dowry harassment and death of Twisha Sharma. The order came after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sought additional time to continue its probe.
The accused were produced before the court through video conferencing after their earlier remand ended. During the hearing, the CBI submitted that several aspects of the investigation remain incomplete and requested a fresh 14-day extension of judicial custody.
According to Twisha Sharma's family counsel, Ankur Pandey, the agency informed the court that forensic examination of seized electronic devices, including mobile phones and laptops, is still underway.
The CBI also stated that one password-protected laptop is yet to be accessed, making further investigation necessary. In addition, investigators are continuing to record witness statements and examine digital evidence linked to the case.
After hearing submissions from both the prosecution and the defence, the court allowed the CBI's plea and extended the judicial custody of both accused until July 14. The matter is now scheduled to be heard again on the same date.
