UP: CBI court sentences Bank of Baroda manager to 5 years in jail, imposes fine

The Central Bureau of Investigation registered the instant case on 7th March 2017 on the basis of complaint alleging that the complainant had been sanctioned a loan amounting to Rs 20,25,000 under “Kamdhenu Yojana” from Baskhari Branch.

Lucknow: The CBI court in Lucknow has sentenced Ram Swaroop Mishra, Branch Manager of Baskhari Branch of Bank of Baroda, Ambedkar Nagar to five years of imprisonment with a fine of Rs 50000 in a bribery case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the instant case on 7th March 2017 on the basis of complaint alleging that the complainant had been sanctioned a loan amounting to Rs 20,25,000 under "Kamdhenu Yojana" from Baskhari Branch.

A part loan amount was credited into the account of the Complainant.

BM demanded bribe
However, the account was put on hold. Thereafter when the complainant contacted the accused Ram Swaroop Mishra to ascertain the reason for hold on the account, the Branch Manager demanded bribe of Rs 30000.

On negotiation accused agreed to accept bribe from complainant amounting to Rs 25000 through signed blank cheque.

Caught red-handed
The accused was caught red-handed while accepting the said cheque and the cheque was recovered from him.

Court convicted
After investigation, chargesheet was filed on 31 March 2017. The Court convicted and sentenced the accused on Wednesday 12 November.
