Lucknow: Police has arrested a man pretending to be an IAS officer along with a number of luxury cars including Range Rover Defender, Mercedes-Benz, and Toyota Fortuner.
A resident of Noida, the accused has been identified as Saurabh Tripathi.
Police sources revealed that the fake officer was intercepted during a routine vehicle checking drive here in Lucknow.
When stopped, Tripathi allegedly introduced himself as an IAS officer and even tried to intimidate the team by claiming that he would escalate the matter to the Chief Minister’s office.
When Lucknow police searched him, they recovered fake documents, fake government passes and many items related to VIP protocol from his vehicles. It was also revealed that Saurabh Tripathi often attended government programs posing as an IAS officer. He also used to attend meetings of many departments posing as an officer. He used to put pressure on officers and try to influence decisions.
Mercedes price up to 1.90 crores
If we look at the vehicles recovered from the fake IAS, the starting price of the Mercedes in his convoy ranges from Rs 33.44 lakh to Rs 1.90 crores. Similarly, the price of Toyota Innova Crysta ranges from Rs 19.99 lakh to Rs 27.18 lakh. The police is investigating where Saurabh used tricks to buy these cars.
