New Delhi: A decomposed body of an unidentified man was discovered stuffed inside a plastic bag near a factory in West Delhi’s Moti Nagar area on Saturday, triggering a police investigation.

The incident came to light after a PCR call alerted authorities about a suspicious bag lying outside a factory gate in Prem Nagar.

Suspicious bag raises alarm

According to police officials, a large white plastic bag tied with rope was found near the entrance of the factory premises. The bag was emitting a foul smell, prompting concern and immediate police intervention.

The caller, identified as Shankar, a security guard at the factory, noticed the bag early in the morning when he returned to duty around 7:30 am.

Guard alerts police after morning discovery

Police said the guard had not been present at the site overnight, as he had gone elsewhere to sleep due to a severe mosquito problem. When he returned in the morning, he spotted the bag lying near the gate and promptly informed the authorities.

Officials suspect that the body may have been dumped at the location during the night hours, although the exact timeline remains unclear.

Body recovered, identity unknown

A crime team reached the spot and opened the bag, discovering a decomposed male body inside. The deceased is believed to be around 40 years old.

He was found wearing blue jeans and a peach-coloured full-sleeved shirt, with a light beard. During the preliminary examination, no visible external injury marks were observed on the body.

Forensic probe underway

A forensic science team examined the scene in detail, collecting evidence and documenting the surroundings. The body has been shifted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital mortuary for preservation.

Police said a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death and help establish further details about the case.

Investigation in progress

Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify the deceased and trace those responsible. CCTV footage from nearby areas is likely to be examined as part of the probe.

The incident has raised concerns in the locality, with police working to uncover the circumstances leading to the man’s death.
