YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra accused of spying for Pakistan; 2,500-Page chargesheet filed

Hisar: A YouTuber from New Agrasen Colony in Hisar named Jyoti Malhotra has been charged with spying for Pakistan. On Thursday a 2500-page chargesheet was submitted to the court by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) against her.

There is evidence in the chargesheet that Jyoti communicated with multiple Pakistani ISI agents. It also provides evidence that she gave these agents private information about significant sites in India.

According to one section of the chargesheet Jyoti expressed sympathy for Pakistan following the Pahalgam terrorist attack which is also being investigated. Kumar Mukesh, Jyoti's attorney stated that they have not yet obtained a copy of the chargesheet. On Monday they are going to pick it up from the court.

Jyoti is scheduled to appear in court as well on Monday. Jyoti was taken into custody by the Civil Lines police after being arrested on May 16. The police gathered evidence and carried out a digital investigation following her arrest. Forensic teams inspected her laptop and mobile phone. For interrogation she was placed under police remand for nine days. She is currently being held at Central Jail-2 located on Rajgarh Road in Hisar.

Background of the Case

On May 16 Jyoti Malhotra was taken into custody on suspicion of spying for Pakistan. She was brought before the court the following day and placed under police remand for five days. Her mobile phone laptop and other documents were confiscated during this period.

During the remand she was questioned by several investigative agencies and police from other states. Information sharing between Jyoti and Pakistani intelligence officers was made public.
The police requested an additional four days of questioning following the initial remand. Twelve terabytes of data were discovered by forensic labs on her laptop, mobile device and other devices during this time.

Jyoti was taken to Central Jail-2 after being produced in court once more on May 26. As the case moves forward in court more information is anticipated. The investigation is still ongoing.
