New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today released its list of candidates for the second phase of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. The list includes several prominent and new faces. The list includes a total of 12 candidates. The party has nominated renowned singer and musician Maithili Thakur for the Alinagar Assembly seat.
Maithili Thakur selected from Alinagar
The most talked-about candidate on the list is the name of renowned singer and musician Maithili Thakur from the Alinagar Assembly constituency. The party has declared her as its candidate from this constituency. This decision was made in recognition of her social and cultural contributions.
Former IPS officer Anand Mishra has also been nominated for Buxar. The BJP has also announced Ramchandra Prasad from Hayaghat and Ranjan Kumar from Muzaffarpur. Previously, the BJP had announced 71 candidates in its first list, bringing the total number of candidates to 83.

Political History of Alinagar Seat
The Alinagar seat also has a fascinating political history. Located in Darbhanga district, it is a general category seat. It first came into existence after the 2008 delimitation. In the 2020 Assembly elections, Mishri Lal Yadav of the VIP defeated Vinod Mishra of the RJD. Mishri Lal Yadav received 61,082 votes, while Vinod Mishra came in second with 57,981 votes. Previously, this seat was held by the RJD in the 2010 and 2015 elections, where Abdul Bari Siddiqui won twice in a row. The first election for this seat was held in 2010.
