Aditya Dhar To Work On This Film After Dhurandhar: CM Himant Biswa Sarma Announces His Next Project

Assam CM Himant Biswa Sarma has announced that he is in talks with Dhurandhar-fame film director Aditya Dhar to make a biopic on legendary Ahom commander Lachit Borphukan

Dhurandar fame film maker Aditya Dhar is likely to start working on another high-profile project. Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has revealed that he has approached the director to work on a biopic of legendary Ahom commander Lachit Borphukan.

Sarma further revealed that discussions with Dhar have already begun with the vision of creating a Hindi film that introduces the Assamese hero’s legacy to global audiences.

Himanta Biswa Sarma Praises Aditya Dhar

During a Facebook live, CM Himant Biswa Sarma praises Aditya Dhar’s filmmaking abilities while explaining why he was chosen for the proposed venture. CM also referred to Dhar’s recent blockbuster Dhurandhar; he said, “The movie Dhurandhar was a big hit. Aditya Dhar was the director, and he is among the best-known names among his contemporaries.”

He further added that the Assam government wants to portray Lachit Borphukan’s extraordinary life through a grand cinematic adaptation. He said, “I think if our government can produce a film on Lachit Borphukan, we can make his heroics known globally. And it will be a special achievement for us.”

The CM has also shared that the initial phase of conversation with Dhar has been encouraging.

He has invited Dhar to visit Assam in August for more detailed discussions on the film’s scale and creative direction.

Who was Lachit Borphukan?

Lachit Borphukan is considered one of the greatest military leaders of Assam. He led Ahom forces to victory over the Mughal Empire in the historic Battle of Saraighat in 1671, preventing Mughal expansion into the North East region
