According to sources, the accident occurred between 8:45 and 9 p.m. on Monday night. Akshay Kumar and his wife Twinkle Khanna were returning home from the airport. Their convoy was passing through the ISKCON Temple area on Gandhigram Road in Juhu. A speeding Mercedes car hit an autorickshaw. The impact was so severe that the autorickshaw jumped and collided directly with an Innova car in Akshay Kumar's convoy.

At the time of the accident, Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna were traveling in the second car in the convoy. Their vehicle suffered a minor impact, but both remained unharmed. However, the auto-rickshaw and the vehicle carrying the security team in the convoy sustained significant damage. Traffic was also disrupted for some time at the scene following the collision.
The auto-rickshaw was completely destroyed in the accident. The auto-rickshaw driver and a passenger were injured. Both were immediately rushed to the nearby Criticare Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Doctors say their condition is stable, and no life-threatening injuries have been reported.
