New Delhi: Despite strong pre-release buzz, Bobby Deol and Anurag Kashyap’s Bandar has failed to make a major impact at the box office. The film witnessed only a marginal rise in collections over its opening weekend.
Released on June 5, Bandar opened with around Rs 50 lakh on Friday. On Saturday, the film showed slight growth and collected nearly Rs 95 lakh. However, the momentum did not continue strongly on Sunday.
As per early estimates, the film earned around Rs 51 lakh on its third day, taking its total three-day collection to approximately Rs 1.96 crore. Final figures may see a minor jump after late-night shows are added.
Trade analysts expected the weekend to improve the film’s performance, especially given the combination of Bobby Deol and director Anurag Kashyap. However, the collections suggest that audience footfall remained limited even during peak weekend hours.
The film is also facing stiff competition from other releases currently dominating theatres. Ram Charan’s Peddi has emerged as a box office giant, reportedly crossing Rs 100 crore within three days, while Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai continues to attract multiplex audiences.
Bandar follows the story of Sameer Mehra, played by Bobby Deol, a former television superstar trying to rebuild his personal and professional life. The narrative takes a dramatic turn when his ex-girlfriend accuses him of rape, setting off a chain of emotional and legal turmoil.
The film also stars Saba Azad and Sapna Pabbi in key roles.
