New Delhi: Kannada superstar Yash’s much-awaited film Toxic faced an unexpected setback during its pre-release event in Hyderabad after a speaker stand collapsed, leaving four people injured. Following the incident, Cyberabad Police have registered a case against the event organisers and the venue management.

The accident took place on Saturday night at Malla Reddy University in Medchal, where the grand pre-release event of Toxic was being held. According to police officials, some fans climbed onto a sound system stand to get a better view of the stage when the structure suddenly gave way, causing them to fall.

Four injured, student suffers leg fracture

Police officials said that four people were injured in the incident. Among them, a student suffered a leg fracture, while three others sustained minor injuries. All the injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

A senior police officer said that a case has been registered against the university management and the event manager for alleged negligence. However, police have not yet revealed the specific sections under which the case has been filed.

Yash stopped event after seeing fans injured

The incident happened while actor Yash was present on stage. As soon as he noticed the collapse, the actor immediately paused the programme and asked organisers to check on the injured people.

Videos circulating on social media showed Yash stopping his speech midway and asking, “Are they okay? Please check.” He also requested fans not to climb onto other structures, warning them about safety risks.

Police begin investigation

Cyberabad Police are now investigating the circumstances that led to the collapse of the speaker stand. Officials are likely to examine safety arrangements, permissions, and crowd management measures taken during the event.

The incident has raised questions over safety protocols at large-scale entertainment events, especially those involving huge gatherings of fans.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is an action drama featuring Yash in the lead role. The film also stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi in key roles.

Produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 26.
