Mumbai: Bollywood’s Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan, is all set to wear the crown once again with his upcoming film “King”, slated for release in 2026. The announcement, made on the superstar’s 60th birthday, sent fans into a frenzy as the makers dropped the film’s title reveal video, giving a glimpse of SRK in a bold new avatar, silver hair, sharp attitude, and unstoppable energy.

The film marks Shah Rukh’s reunion with director Siddharth Anand, who earlier helmed the 2023 blockbuster Pathaan. Co-produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, King promises to be a “slick, high-octane action entertainer that redefines style, charisma, and thrills.”

The production house shared the title reveal on Instagram with the caption: “Sau deshon mein badnaam, duniya ne diya sirf ek hi naam - #KING. It’s Showtime! In cinemas 2026.”

A Birthday Gift for Fans

The reveal was more than a title drop, it was a celebration of Shah Rukh Khan’s unparalleled stardom. The video showcased SRK in full action mode, sporting a silver-haired look and performing sleek stunts, hinting at a thrilling storyline.

Fans quickly picked up on an Easter egg, SRK holding a King of Hearts card, symbolizing his reign both on and off screen. The teaser’s electrifying visuals and his stylish persona have already created massive buzz across social media platforms.

According to the makers, King will explore a new shade of SRK, one that is both intense and enigmatic. The film is expected to combine Siddharth Anand’s signature action flair with SRK’s unmatched screen presence, creating a cinematic spectacle.

The Dream Team Returns

The film stars Deepika Padukone, one of SRK’s most frequent collaborators, alongside Suhana Khan, marking a special father-daughter pairing on screen. Deepika and SRK’s chemistry has previously sizzled in Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, Pathaan, and Jawan.

Adding to the powerhouse cast are Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhay Verma, Saurabh Shukla, Raghav Juyal, and reportedly Rani Mukerji in a pivotal role.

Insiders describe the movie as SRK’s most stylized action role yet, with high-octane sequences, emotional depth, and international-standard production design.

From ‘Dunki’ to ‘King’: SRK’s Reinvention Continues

After Dunki (2023), where SRK portrayed a man caught in the turmoil of illegal migration, King signals his complete reinvention as an action icon. His collaborations with Siddharth Anand and Atlee (Jawan) have positioned him as the face of India’s new-age cinematic spectacle.

Trade experts believe King could easily become one of the biggest global releases from Bollywood in 2026, riding on SRK’s universal fan base and the director’s reputation for high-octane entertainment.

What to Expect?

Set against a slick, global backdrop, King is rumored to feature SRK as a skilled assassin navigating power, betrayal, and redemption. With Anand’s penchant for large-scale action and SRK’s charisma, expectations are sky-high.

As the superstar himself turns 60, King feels both symbolic and celebratory, a reminder that Shah Rukh Khan continues to rule the silver screen, no matter the decade.
