New Delhi: Veteran South cinema actor Junior NTR, also fondly called Tarak, is celebrating his 42nd birthday today on 20 May. His full name is Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, popularly known as Junior NTR. Junior NTR has made a distinct identity in South cinema with his hard work and talent, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
Jr NTR was born on 20 May 1983 in a family where both cinema and politics had deep roots. His grandfather was veteran Telugu actor, filmmaker and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh NT Rama Rao, while his father Nandamuri Harikrishna was also an actor and politician. Tarak inherited the art of acting, but he honed it with his hard work and today he is one of the biggest superstars of South cinema.
Junior NTR started his career at the age of just 8 years. His first film was released in 1991, named 'Brahmarishi Vishwamitra'. This film was directed by his grandfather. Tarak played the role of King Bharat in this film. After this, in 1997, at the age of 14, he played the role of Lord Shri Ram in 'Ramayanaam', for which he also received the National Award for Best Children's Film. His first film as a lead actor was 'Ninnu Choodalani' released in 2001, but he got real success with 'Student No. 1' released in the same year. This film was not only his first superhit, but it was also the first directorial film of famous director SS Rajamouli. The duo of Jr NTR and Rajamouli then gave blockbuster films like 'Simhadri', 'Lok-Paralok' and 'RRR', which are still popular among the audience.
Junior NTR's personal life has also always been in the news. In the year 2011, he married Lakshmi Pranathi, daughter of businessman Narne Srinivas Rao. This wedding was considered one of the most lavish weddings of that year. It is said that about Rs 100 crore was spent on this wedding, in which Rs 18 crore was spent on the decoration of the mandap itself.
The sari that Lakshmi wore during the rounds was worth Rs 1 crore, which was later donated. The ceremony was attended by 12,000 fans along with 3,000 high-profile guests.
