Shehnaaz Gill’s latest Punjabi romantic comedy Ikk Kudi shows a 58% jump in box office collection on Day 2, but despite the rise, it still falls short of her previous openers. Is the film’s growth enough to sustain momentum through the weekend?
Ikk Kudi earns Rs 19 lakh on Day 2.
Chandigarh: Punjabi cinema’s latest romantic comedy, Ikk Kudi, starring Shehnaaz Gill, witnessed a modest box office revival on its second day. The Amarjit Singh Saron directorial recorded a 58% growth on Saturday, yet the overall numbers remain underwhelming compared to Gill’s previous hits. The question now is, can word of mouth and fan power turn things around for the actress’ first production venture?
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Ikk Kudi collected Rs 19 lakhs on Day 2, up from Rs 12 lakhs on its opening day. This brings the total India net collection to Rs 31 lakhs in two days, while gross earnings stand at Rs 36.58 lakhs. Though the jump signals some positive audience traction, the overall figure is still far from impressive for a film fronted by a popular star like Shehnaaz Gill.
The movie faces limited competition at the box office, with Nikka Zaildar 4 nearly concluding its theatrical run. Yet, despite having a clear runway, Ikk Kudi has not managed to draw large crowds.
Ikk Kudi’s numbers pale in comparison to Gill’s earlier successes. Her 2021 film Honsla Rakh opened with Rs 2.52 crore in two days, while Thank You For Coming managed Rs 1.06 crore during the same period. Even her debut film Sat Shri Akaal England (2017) earned Rs 67 lakhs in its first two days, double of Ikk Kudi’s current total.
To match her debut, Ikk Kudi would need a staggering 116% growth in the coming days, which looks challenging given the current trend.
Shehbaaz Badesha on Bigg Boss 19: Could sister Shehnaaz Gill’s honesty be shaping his strategy?
Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, Ikk Kudi features Shehnaaz Gill in a dual role as Tejo and Simar, alongside Sukhi Chahal, Baljinder Darapuri, and Neha Dayal. The film was released worldwide on October 31, 2025.
The story explores a woman’s struggle for autonomy in choosing her life partner, a theme that resonates deeply in Punjabi culture. However, despite its promising premise, the film’s execution falters. The first half charms with humor and relatable characters, but the narrative drags in the second, losing the emotional punch it initially promised.
‘Baahubali: The Epic’ Box Office Collection Day 2: Can Rajamouli’s re-release break records again?
Shehnaaz Gill brings her trademark warmth and vibrancy to the screen, playing both roles with confidence and ease. Yet, the standout performance comes from veteran actor Nirmal Rishi, whose sharp wit and emotional depth elevate even the weakest moments. Her presence lends authenticity and balance to the otherwise uneven screenplay.
While fans have praised Shehnaaz’s effort and screen presence, critics remain divided. The film’s inconsistent tone, oscillating between comedy and melodrama leaves viewers unsure of what to feel. If Ikk Kudi continues to rely solely on Gill’s fandom, it risks fading away before the week concludes.
With Sunday’s performance crucial for recovery, trade experts believe that sustained footfall and strong family audience engagement could help the film cross the Rs 50-lakh weekend mark.
