Mumbai: Mythological cinema is making a comeback in Bollywood at a new grand level. There is a lot of excitement among the audience about director Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited film ‘Ramayana Part 1.’ The first glimpse of this film will be released on July 3, 2025, and even before that, the film has made headlines due to its huge budget, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the budget of ‘Ramayana Part 1’ is around $100 million, i.e., around ₹835 crores. With this figure, this film has become the most expensive film in India to date.

Which films did Ramayana leave behind?

The budget of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ was around ₹ 600 crores, while ‘RRR’ and ‘Adipurush’ were both made on a budget of around ₹ 550 crores. All these films were among the most expensive films of Indian cinema to date, but ‘Ramayana Part 1’ has left them all behind.

‘Ramayana Part 1’ has left all these films behind and has won the title of the biggest budget film. The huge budget of this film is mainly due to two important reasons. First, state-of-the-art and high-level VFX technology is being used extensively in it, trying to make every scene grand and realistic. Second, the film includes a mega star cast selected from all over the country, which includes big stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, and Rakul Preet Singh.

These stars in the roles of Ram, Ravana, and Sita

Many veteran actors are going to be seen in important roles in the film ‘Ramayana Part 1.’ Ranbir Kapoor is playing the role of Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi will be seen in the role of Mother Sita. South superstar Yash will be seen in the role of demon king Ravana. Apart from this, Sunny Deol is playing the role of Lord Hanuman, and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen as Shurpanakha.

The rest of the film’s star cast is also quite impressive, which includes experienced and popular actors like Vivek Oberoi, Lara Dutta, Kajal Aggarwal, Ravi Dubey, Kunal Kapoor, Arun Govil, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan.

Film Release

‘Ramayana’ is being made in two parts, and its first part is likely to release on Diwali 2026. Nitesh Tiwari is very keen on this project and plans to make it a visual masterpiece based on Indian mythology.
