New Delhi: Ranveer Singh is currently celebrating the success of his film, Dhurandhar 2. Released on March 19, 2026, the film continues to perform well in theaters. Prior to this, its first installment—*Dhurandhar: The Revenge*—was released in December 2025 and proved to be a massive hit.
Now, the filmmakers are taking the movie to the international stage. Dhurandhar: Part 1 is set to release in Japanese theaters on July 10, 2026. Jio Studios announced this development on social media by sharing the film's Japanese poster.
Indian films enjoy a significant market in Japan. RRR, in particular, achieved tremendous success there, grossing approximately 2.42 billion Yen (roughly ₹136 crore). To date, it remains the highest-grossing Indian film in Japan.
The big question now is whether Dhurandhar will be able to surpass this record. Several Indian films have performed well in Japan in the past. Pathaan earned approximately ₹1.34 crore. Laapataa Ladies did business worth ₹2.75 crore. Salaar also garnered impressive earnings.
Although Dangal was significantly more successful in China, it also managed to achieve decent earnings in Japan.
The standout features of Dhurandhar are its action sequences, compelling storyline, and Ranveer Singh's electrifying energy. Its success in India has unequivocally demonstrated that audiences have thoroughly enjoyed the film.
If this same trend continues in Japan, the film could very well become a major hit there as well. All eyes are now set on July 10, the day the film hits theaters in Japan. It will be fascinating to see whether Dhurandhar can replicate the same magic at the international box office that it created back home in India.
