A family dispute after the death of Sunjay Kapur, his mother speak out “I never agreed or gave permission for anyone to speak or act for me in any way, for any of the Sona companies.”

New Delhi: A dramatic family dispute (Household disagreement) around Sona Comstar (Industrial firm), previously owned by the late Sunjay Kapur. Before a critical company meeting, his mother Rani Kapur made Shocking claims that she was forced into signing crucial documents and cut off from her funds, denied access to her accounts. 

Rani Kapur claims that she is the main stakeholder of the Sona Group. She transmitted an emotional letter to the Sona Comstar board. In which she claims that she was forced to sign papers without explanation, when she was behind doors and all alone, her heart was still breaking from her dear son dying only last month. She was never shown what was in the documents. 

She also alleges that she's been "completely denied access to my accounts and left dependent on a select few for survival within the month of her son's passing.

The major problem was the Annual General Meeting (AGM): the aim was to appoint certain director (s) as a representative of the Kapur family. Some of the insiders suggested Priya Sachdev Kapur (wife of Sunjay Kapur) as the representative. Rani's daughter-in-law was expected to join the company board, gaining powerful influence on major decisions, without daily management. 

Rani Kapur denies agreeing to any such appointments and demands to postpone the AGM by two weeks. She also said that she has not given any consent or officially nominated any person to come on the board of the company. After the death of her son, she never agreed or gave permission for anyone to speak or act for me in any way, for any of the Sona companies.” She also raised questions about the circumstances of Sunjay's death claiming it was "wrongly labelled as cardiac arrest" and that the truth may be far away.
