New Delhi: Emraan Hashmi’s much-awaited film Awarapan 2 has finally arrived on the big screen, bringing back the iconic character of Shivam Pandit. The film released in theatres on Friday, August 14, 2026, amid high expectations from fans who have been waiting for the sequel to the 2007 cult classic.
The film is competing at the box office with Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta’s Batwara 1947, along with other South Indian releases including Vishwanath and Sons and Hi.
For fans waiting to watch the film from home, the makers have confirmed that Awarapan 2 will stream on Prime Video after its theatrical release.
However, the official OTT streaming date has not been announced yet. The film is expected to arrive on the platform after completing its cinema run, following the usual theatrical-to-digital release window.
Ever since the announcement of Awarapan 2, the film has generated significant excitement among Emraan Hashmi’s fans. The sequel continues the journey of Shivam Pandit, a character that became one of the most memorable roles of the actor’s career.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film recorded a strong response in advance bookings. Early figures showed that Awarapan 2 earned around Rs 8.57 crore and sold over 2.85 lakh tickets in India on its opening day. Meanwhile, Batwara 1947 registered a slower start, earning around Rs 1.76 crore from more than 65,000 tickets sold during the same period.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 features Emraan Hashmi in the lead role as Shivam Pandit. The film also stars Shabana Azmi as Nafisa, Disha Patani as Zara, Puran Gabbi as Zorawar, Anirudh Rawal as Sikandar, Surendar Vicky as Jaideep, Vijayant Kohli as Mehmood and Atul Kumar as Samarth.
The film has received a U/A 16+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), with the makers required to make nine modifications before release.
