Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone has become the newest voice behind Meta AI, the artificial intelligence assistant developed by tech giant Meta. The actress made the announcement via her Instagram, where she shared a behind-the-scenes video of her recording session.
“Hi, I am Deepika Padukone. I am the new voice of Meta AI. So tap the ring and my voice will run out,” she said in the video.
In her caption, she added, “Okay, so this is pretty cool I think! I’m now part of Meta AI and you can chat with my voice in English across India, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.”
With this, Deepika joins a select global list of voices shaping the future of AI interaction, marking a new milestone in her already diverse career.
Championing Mental Health: Appointed India’s First Ambassador
Beyond technology, Deepika’s influence is extending into the realm of public health. On World Mental Health Day, she was officially appointed the first-ever Mental Health Ambassador by India’s Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW).
The announcement coincides with Deepika’s long-standing advocacy for mental health through her Live Love Laugh Foundation (LLL), which she launched after publicly sharing her battle with depression in 2015.

In an Instagram post reacting to the announcement, Deepika wrote,
“On World Mental Health Day, I am deeply honoured to be appointed as the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare’s first-ever Mental Health Ambassador… Led by our Hon. Prime Minister @narendramodi, our nation has taken meaningful steps to place mental health at the heart of public health.”
She also thanked Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava, sharing a photo from her meeting with them.
“My Mother Saved My Life”: Deepika’s Emotional Story
Deepika has never shied away from speaking about her mental health struggles. In an earlier interview with NDTV, the actress emphasized the critical role her family played during her most vulnerable phase.
She recalled an emotional breakdown in front of her parents during a visit, where her mother instinctively sensed something was wrong. “It was none of the usual things—work, relationships. It just came from a really empty, hollow place,” she said.
Deepika credited her mother for encouraging her to seek professional help. “Had she not identified the symptoms and urged me to see a doctor, I don’t know what state I’d be in today,” she admitted.
She also highlighted the emotional toll mental illness takes on caregivers and how supporting those who support others is equally important.
Balancing Stardom With Purpose
With her voice now embedded in Meta’s AI assistant and her commitment to improving mental health awareness across India, Deepika Padukone is clearly merging star power with social impact. Whether through tech or therapy, she’s using her platform to spark meaningful change—one voice at a time.
