New Delhi: Popular Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, known for his impeccable comic timing and memorable roles on the big screen, is currently lodged in Tihar Jail following his arrest in a long-pending cheque bounce case worth ₹9 crore.
A court hearing on his bail plea was held on February 12, but he did not receive relief. The next hearing is scheduled for February 16, which will determine whether he will be granted bail. Until the court delivers its decision, the actor remains in judicial custody and is required to follow prison regulations like any other inmate.
According to sources linked to the jail administration, Rajpal Yadav has not been given any special treatment despite his celebrity status. He is staying in a regular barrack and following the standard daily routine prescribed by jail authorities.
His day reportedly begins early in the morning, between 5 and 6 AM. After freshening up, inmates are served tea and breakfast. The rest of the day follows the jail manual’s structured schedule, including roll calls and routine activities. Dinner is usually served around 7 PM, and lights out is around 10 PM.
Officials have confirmed that he is receiving the same food as other inmates—dal, vegetables, roti, and rice—and has not requested any exclusive facilities from outside.
During his first 24 hours in custody, sources say the actor appeared quiet and reserved. However, over time, he has gradually returned to his natural, light-hearted demeanor. Fellow inmates reportedly ask him to recite famous dialogues and share humorous stories from his films.
His presence is said to have slightly lifted the mood inside the barrack, with several prisoners enjoying conversations with him. He has also spoken openly about life’s ups and downs, reportedly telling fellow inmates that difficult times reveal who truly stands by you.
As per Tihar Jail regulations, inmates may be assigned work depending on the nature of their case and administrative decisions. At present, there is no official confirmation that Rajpal Yadav has been given any specific labor duties. He is, however, required to comply with standard prison protocols like all other prisoners.
There is no indication that he has been placed in any special category or given preferential treatment. For now, his daily life remains structured under the jail’s routine until further court proceedings determine his fate.
With the next court date approaching, all eyes are on whether Rajpal Yadav will secure bail. Until then, the actor who once brought laughter to millions continues to navigate a very different stage—one inside the walls of Tihar Jail.
