Born Abhas Kumar Ganguly on 4 August 1929 in the city of Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh, Kishore Kumar earned his unique place in Indian music by being unconventional. While most other musicians of his time were trained in classical music, Kishore Kumar, who was a natural singer, never received any formal training in classical music.
