New Delhi: Amey Desai, a 30-year-old engineer from Mumbai, has created an innovation that has brought new hope to patients suffering from Parkinson's disease. Amey has developed a unique smart device called "Walk," designed to address the walking challenges of Parkinson's disease.

Approximately 7 million people in India are affected by Parkinson's disease. Patients with this condition experience a sudden halt in their feet while walking, a phenomenon known as "freezing of gait." This condition prevents patients from taking steps forward even if they wish, increasing the risk of falls.

WThis smart device, developed by Amey Desai, is based on advanced sensor technology. It continuously monitors the patient's gait and body movements. As soon as the device senses that the patient's feet are about to stop, it immediately emits a mild vibration or signal. These signals help the patient regain their balance and begin walking.

The device was tested at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bengaluru, where the results were positive. According to doctors and experts, this technology could significantly ease the daily lives of Parkinson's patients.

This innovation by Amey Desai not only demonstrates the power of technology but could also be a major step toward a self-sufficient and safe life for millions of patients.
