Jakarta: Four people were killed and three others injured after an inter-city train struck seven motorcycles allegedly crossing a railway track in Indonesia’s East Java province on Monday, police said,  reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The accident occurred at a crossing in Barat area of Magetan at around 1 p.m. local time during rainy weather, media reported.
Barat Police Chief Munif Setiyono confirmed that all victims had been evacuated and taken to nearby hospitals, adding that authorities were still investigating the cause of the crash.
“We are still investigating this and gathering witness statements,” he said.
Land transport accidents are frequent in Indonesia. In 2010, a train collision in Central Java claimed more than 30 lives, marking one of the deadliest incidents in recent years.
