New Delhi: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that, following 20 consecutive days of US-Israeli airstrikes, Iran has now lost the capability to enrich uranium or manufacture ballistic missiles. He stated, “Iran has been severely weakened, and we are winning this war.”

Impact of the Strikes

According to Netanyahu, these strikes targeted Iranian facilities where equipment essential for missiles and nuclear weapons was manufactured. He asserts that Iran’s drone and missile systems have also sustained significant damage.

However, he has not presented any concrete evidence to substantiate this claim, a fact that is raising questions regarding the statement.

Background of the Conflict

This conflict began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear program. In retaliation, Iran launched missile attacks and began imposing restrictions on vessels transiting through the Strait of Hormuz.

Netanyahu indicated that airstrikes alone would not suffice and that ground operations might also be undertaken, although he did not provide further details regarding this possibility.

He also remarked that whether or not public protests against the government emerge within Iran depends entirely on the Iranian people themselves.

The US Role

Netanyahu denied having drawn Donald Trump or the United States into this conflict. He asserted that the United States makes its own independent decisions.

This statement comes at a time when tensions in the Middle East are at their peak. Should the situation deteriorate further, this conflict could escalate into a major war, the repercussions of which would be felt across the entire globe.
