Republic of Baluchistan Independece Day
New Delhi: Balochistan has declared 11 August as Independence Day of Balochistan and called for worldwide celebrations, weeks after announcing the province’s independence from Pakistan.
In a statement, Balochistan urged Baloch people to celebrate 11 August with national unity and appealed to the international community to recognise what it described as an independent and sovereign Republic of Baluchistan.
Mir Yar Baloch, Baloch liberation leader, urged people across the Baloch nation to hoist the national flag of an independent Balochistan at their residences, neighbourhoods, markets, shops, educational institutions, and other public places.
According to Mir Yar Baloch and Baloch Liberation, the Republic of Balochistan considers August 11 as its Independence Day. He further said that the occasion would continue to be celebrated every year. The statement suggests that the partition of the Indian subcontinent led to prolonged conflict, unrest, terrorism, economic instability, and political crises across the region.

The statement further alleged that Pakistan’s policies had not only affected the region but also other parts of the world. The statement referred to Kashmir, the military action in Balochistan in March 1948, the 1971 conflict in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), operations regarding Palestinians in Jordan, the Soviet-Afghan war, the 1998 nuclear test in Chagai district, and developments after the September 11 attacks in the United States.
The Republic of Balochistan urges that it believes lasting peace, development, and prosperity cannot be achieved as long as Balochistan remains part of Pakistan.
As per the statement issued by the group, Balochistan first declared its independence on August 11, 1947. The group further claimed that the news of Independence was reported by reputed global media houses such as The New York Times, and it was also broadcast by All India Radio.
Based on this event, Baloch celebrated Independence Day every year on 11 August, whereas Pakistan and India celebrate Independence Day on 14 and 15 August, respectively.
