Quetta: Two Baloch armed groups the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) and the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) have claimed responsibility for a series of attacks targeting Pakistani security forces and infrastructure across Balochistan between September 13 and 20, 2026. The groups claimed that their operations resulted in casualties among Pakistani military and police personnel, along with damage to communication facilities and other installations. The claims have emerged amid continuing security challenges in Pakistan’s restive southwestern province.
According to a statement attributed to BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch, the group carried out nine operations across different parts of Balochistan, including Kech, Dalbandin, Kharan, Mastung, Khuzdar, Dasht, Awaran and Quetta.
The group claimed that one of its major operations took place on September 20, 2026, in the Pullabad area of Tump and Kech where fighters targeted a Pakistani military convoy using heavy and automatic weapons. BLF also claimed that rockets were fired at a military checkpoint in the region, causing casualties and material losses. The claims could not be independently verified.
The armed group further claimed that its fighters attacked a military communication tower in the Ashlolo Padag area of Dalbandin on September 19, 2026. According to BLF, the equipment installed at the tower was damaged in a fire. The group alleged that the facility was being used for military communication, surveillance and operational activities.
BLF claimed that its fighters established a temporary blockade in Mastung’s Maro area on September 17, 2026 and intercepted vehicles moving through the region. The group said a military vehicle carrying Pakistani personnel was targeted after those inside allegedly attempted to use weapons. It claimed that four personnel were seriously injured in the attack.
In another claimed operation, BLF said a sniper attack in the Suneri area of Mashkay district killed a Frontier Corps personnel on September 15, 2026. The group also claimed responsibility for an attack involving Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel in Quetta’s Sariab area, claiming three CTD personnel were killed and two others injured.
BLF further claimed that an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack took place in the Malant area of Tump on September 13, 2026, while bomb disposal personnel were attempting to defuse an explosive device. The group claimed that one military personnel was killed and another was injured in the blast.
Meanwhile, the Baloch Republican Guards claimed responsibility for a separate attack in Kachhi Qalandar area of Kachhi district. BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch claimed that its fighters encountered members of what the group described as a state-backed 'death squad' during a patrol.
The spokesperson claimed that armed individuals fled after an exchange and left behind their weapons.
The latest claims come amid a rise in militant activity in Balochistan, where armed groups have repeatedly targeted Pakistani security forces and government-linked infrastructure.
The province has witnessed long-running insurgency-related violence, with security operations and militant attacks continuing to shape the region’s security landscape.
