New Delhi: A retired school teacher, his wife, and their two children were allegedly murdered at their home in the Bangladeshi city of Rangpur. The deceased have been identified as Ganapati Chakraborty, a retired teacher from Rangpur District School; his wife, Preetilata Chakraborty; their daughter, Agami Chakraborty; and their son, Priyam Chakraborty.

According to media reports, investigators stated that after the alleged murders, the suspects stayed in the house, bathed, ate dates and cucumbers from the refrigerator, and consumed 'Yaba' (a methamphetamine-based drug) before fleeing.

Police Detain Two Suspects

The police have detained two individuals, identified as Mugdho and Siddhartha, on suspicion of involvement in the murders. They are cousins. Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud stated that the two accessed the roof of the Chakraborty residence via a neighboring building and consumed drugs there on Thursday night.

Hearing a noise, Ganapati Chakraborty went to the roof to investigate and asked the two men how they had arrived there. Fearing detection, the suspects strangled him using the gamchha (traditional cloth) draped over his shoulder. Hearing the commotion, his wife went upstairs; they strangled her as well. Subsequently, they murdered the son and daughter too.

The bodies of all four family members were recovered from their locked house around 11:30 PM on Friday. The family had no known disputes or enmities with anyone.
