New Delhi: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has delivered a major message to US President Donald Trump, calling for an end to the months-long conflict between Tehran and Washington. Pezeshkian said Iran should move towards ending the war while it remains in a position of “power and dignity.”

Speaking at a meeting with doctors, Pezeshkian said, “It is better that we bring the war to an end now as we are in a position of power and dignity.” He also claimed that the international community recognises Iran’s position and defended Tehran’s approach during the conflict.

Iran Rejects Claims of Surrender

Pezeshkian also defended the earlier understanding reached between Iran and the US, rejecting criticism that Tehran had made major concessions. He said the agreement did not represent surrender and argued that the commitments were not one-sided against Iran.

The Iranian president’s comments came as diplomatic efforts between Tehran and Washington remain uncertain. Both sides have accused each other of violating previous commitments, while tensions continue over sanctions, military pressure and the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Iran Military Issues Fresh Warning

Despite Pezeshkian’s call for ending the conflict, Iran’s military leadership has maintained a tough stance. Iranian officials warned that any new threats or attacks would receive a strong response from the country’s armed forces.

Iran’s military has said its forces remain prepared across land, sea, air defence and cyber domains, signalling that Tehran is keeping its defensive and retaliatory options open.

Trump Maintains Pressure on Tehran

US President Donald Trump has continued to push for greater pressure on Iran, including economic measures and sanctions. Washington has questioned whether Tehran is ready for what it considers a workable agreement.

The latest developments come as the Strait of Hormuz remains at the centre of global attention due to its importance for international oil shipments and regional security.
