New Delhi: On October 11, in New Delhi, Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met with Sergio Gor, the US Ambassador-designate to India.
The meeting took place at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), where the two leaders discussed India-US relations and their global significance.
Following the meeting, Dr. Jaishankar shared a post on the social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter). He wrote, "It was a pleasure to meet Sergio Gor, the US Ambassador-designate, in New Delhi today. Discussed India-US relations and their global relevance. Wish him the best in his new assignment."

US Deputy Secretary for Management and Resources Michael J. Rigas was also present with Sergio Gor during the meeting. Rigas' participation in this visit demonstrates how seriously the US takes this diplomatic initiative.
PM Modi Meets US Envoy Sergio Gor
Sergio Gor also met with Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared information about the meeting on social media. He stated that discussions focused on the India-US global strategic partnership and shared priorities.
Sergio Gor was appointed by US President Donald Trump as Ambassador to India and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs in August 2025.
Gore previously served as the White House's personal director and is considered a close advisor to Trump. He thanked Trump for his appointment, calling it a sign of "respect and trust."
Gore and Rigas are on a six-day visit to India until October 14. The visit aims to further strengthen India-US relations and enhance cooperation at the policy level.
This meeting comes at a time when the United States has imposed additional tariffs on India, leading to trade tensions between the two countries. Despite this, both countries have expressed commitment to further strengthen the bilateral strategic partnership.
Previous Meeting in New York
It is worth noting that Dr. Jaishankar and Sergio Gor previously met on September 24th in New York during the United Nations General Assembly session. At that meeting, both sides agreed to advance strategic cooperation.
