Dubai: Amid growing tensions in West Asia, residents of Dubai received a missile alert after several weeks, prompting the UAE authorities to issue an emergency warning.
In a post on X, the UAE Ministry of Defence said that its air defence systems detected a missile threat approaching the country on Tuesday.
The ministry urged citizens and residents to follow official warnings and updates issued through authorised channels. Dubai residents also received an emergency alert as air defence systems responded to the detected threat.
The Ministry of Defence clarified that the loud sounds heard in some areas were due to air defence interceptions.
The UAE Ministry of Defence stated that the country’s defence systems remain fully prepared to respond to any threat and protect the nation’s sovereignty, security, and stability.
Soon after the initial alert, residents received another notification confirming that the situation was under control and they could resume normal activities while continuing to follow official instructions.
The alert message stated that the situation was safe and residents could return to their daily routines with caution. Later, the Ministry of Defence confirmed that one missile fell within UAE waters, while another landed outside UAE territory.
This was the first missile alert in Dubai since a false alarm in June and an attack alert in July. Before that, the previous missile warning had been issued in early May.
The latest alert comes at a time when regional tensions in West Asia remain high, raising security concerns across the Gulf region.
