French Prez Macron denies any dispute with wife after she ‘smacked’ him; Asserts ‘It was a joke…’

Hanoi: A video of French President Emmanuel Macron visit to Vietnam has gone viral on social media. The video showed the President's face suddenly being slapped away by his wife, Brigitte, as they landed in Vietnam on an official visit to Southeast Asia.

However President called it a 'joke' by his wife and rejected all speculations of a dispute with his wife.

At the same time, Macron also heavily criticised social media to fan this 'gesture' so wildly.

In fact the video showed President Macron standing in the vestibule adjoining the boarding gate. He was speaking to his wife, who was still inside the cabin. When the security officials opened the gate, her arm emerges abruptly from the doorway and shoved his face aside which appeared as an aggressive gesture.

For a moment President Macron was startled but quickly recovered from it after he realised that there was a camera pointed right at him. He smiled and quickly waved at the camera as if nothing had happened.

Further the video shows Macron and the First Lady get down the aircraft. When President Macron offered his arm for her to hold his hand as the two were getting down to the red carpet on the tarmac. But the First Lady ignored his gesture and climbed down holding the railing on the step ladder instead.

According to a press video, the President dressed in a navy-blue suit, white shirt, and black tie, while the First Lady was in a black shirt and trouser, and a red formal jacket over it.

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte, the First Lady, were en route to Vietnam and so their plane landed in Hanoi on Sunday. As soon as the door of the plane opened, Macron was seen standing there and after this his wife Brigitte was seen smacking his face.

Macron was shocked at first, but then quickly recovered himself and started waving his hand towards the delegation that had come to the airport to welcome him.

After this Brigitte also came out and started descending the stairs with Macron. During this time Macron extended his hand towards his wife, but she did not hold it. Officials of the French Presidential Palace Elysee Palace described it as a joke between the husband and wife.
