New Delhi: The Government of India has appointed senior diplomat Dinesh K. Patnaik as the next High Commissioner of India to Canada. Mr. Patnaik is a 1990 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer and is currently serving as India's Ambassador to Spain.

He is expected to take up his new post soon. This appointment is considered an important step towards strengthening India-Canada relations.
