New Delhi: India has strongly objected to references concerning the country in resolutions adopted at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Baghdad on October 17–18, accusing Pakistan of pushing a politically motivated agenda against New Delhi. In an official statement, India described the references as “malicious, biased, and false” and expressed disappointment that the OIC had once again allowed itself to be used by Pakistan. New Delhi also questioned the organisation’s credibility over its repeated endorsement of narratives directed against India.

India Reiterates Position on Jammu and Kashmir

India said the OIC had no standing to comment on matters that fall strictly within the country’s internal jurisdiction. It reiterated that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India, adding that political propaganda would not change this position.

The government also highlighted what it described as economic progress in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370, pointing to infrastructure development, tourism and improved connectivity as areas benefiting local residents.

New Delhi Accuses Pakistan of Rights Violations

The statement contrasted the situation in Jammu and Kashmir with conditions in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). India accused Pakistan of using force against civilian protesters and alleged that women and children had also been killed. It said restrictions on media coverage had not concealed the reported human rights concerns.

India Calls Out Pakistan Over Terrorism and Minority Rights

New Delhi said the outstanding issues related to Jammu and Kashmir were Pakistan’s withdrawal from areas under its “illegal and forcible occupation” and an end to cross-border terrorism.

India also rejected references to Islamophobia in the OIC resolutions, alleging that Pakistan was attempting to divert international attention from its own record on minority persecution, sectarian violence, governance and political instability.

Concluding its response, India urged OIC members to reconsider the organisation’s direction and undertake reforms to protect its credibility and integrity.
