MEA: Indian citizens’ safety is top priority
New Delhi: Amid the escalating conflict in the West Asian region, India reiterated the need for dialogue and diplomacy, saying its voice clearly in favour of an early end to the conflict. Already, many lives have been regrettably lost and we express our grief in that regard.
In an official statement, the Government of India’s spokesperson said that the well-being of Indian citizens abroad remains the government’s foremost priority.
'Their safety and well-being is of utmost priority. We cannot remain impervious to developments that adversely affect them. Our trade and energy supply chains also pass through this region, and any major disruption could have serious consequences for the Indian economy,' the statement said.
“As a country whose nationals are prominent in the global workforce, India firmly opposes attacks on merchant vessels. In the past few days, some Indian nationals have lost their lives or have gone missing as a result of such incidents,” the statement added.
