Riyadh/New Delhi: The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has issued a safety advisory for Indian nationals living in Saudi Arabia, urging them to remain alert, stay calm and follow instructions from local authorities amid security concerns following recent attacks.  The advisory recommends that Indians remain indoors in the event of an aerial attack and comply with official safety directions. The embassy has also shared information about flight options for Indian nationals who may need to leave the kingdom during the current situation.

Embassy Urges Indians to Stay Indoors During Aerial Attacks

In its advisory, the embassy asked Indian residents to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary movement if an aerial attack occurs. It stressed the importance of following instructions issued by Saudi authorities and staying informed through official channels. The warning follows reported attacks on Saudi Arabian airports last week by Houthi rebels in Yemen, who are backed by Iran. According to the information provided, an Indian national from Hyderabad was killed at Riyadh airport in the incident.

The advisory highlights the importance of keeping track of local security updates and following official guidance during any emergency.

Emergency Travel Options Through Qatar and Bahrain

The Indian Embassy has also outlined possible travel alternatives for Indians who need to leave Saudi Arabia urgently. Indian nationals seeking to depart may consider flights from airports in neighbouring Gulf countries, particularly Qatar and Bahrain. However, the embassy clarified that travellers must obtain the required visas for the respective countries in accordance with their immigration rules. The option is therefore subject to meeting the entry requirements of the country from which they plan to travel.

Saudia and Flynas Continue Scheduled Services

The embassy stated that scheduled Saudia flights continue to operate from Dammam, Jeddah and Medina. Flynas is also operating scheduled flights on the Dammam–Lucknow route. Indian nationals have been advised to remain in regular contact with their airlines and confirm the latest flight status before travelling to the airport.

Flight schedules and availability may change depending on the evolving security situation. Travellers should therefore verify their bookings directly with the relevant airline before making travel arrangements.

What Indian Nationals Should Keep in Mind

Indian residents in Saudi Arabia should follow local emergency instructions, monitor official embassy communications and check with airlines for the latest operational updates. Those considering departure through another Gulf country should confirm visa eligibility and entry requirements before booking connecting travel.  The embassy's advisory aims to keep Indian nationals informed about safety precautions and available travel options amid heightened regional security concerns.
