India and Russia signed agreements for cooperation in the health and food safety sectors. According to reports, after the talks between PM Modi and President Putin, India and Russia also signed an MoU for cooperation in the port and shipping sector.
India–Russia sign health, food, shipbuilding pacts
New Delhi: Today is the second day of Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to India. He held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Modi today. Following this meeting between the two leaders, PM Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a joint press statement in Delhi.
Before this statement, India and Russia signed agreements for cooperation in the health and food safety sectors. According to reports, after the talks between PM Modi and President Putin, India and Russia also signed an MoU for cooperation in the port and shipping sector. Furthermore, India and Russia finalized plans to enhance cooperation in strategic areas of their economies.
What did PM Modi say?
Following the joint statement, PM Modi said that President Putin's visit is taking place at a time when our bilateral relations are passing through several historical milestones. The PM said that India-Russia friendship has remained steadfast like a pole star for the last eight decades.
The PM said that India-Russia relations are based on mutual respect and deep trust. These relations between the two countries have always stood the test of time. We discussed all areas of cooperation to further strengthen India-Russia relations.
Agreement also reached on minerals
Prime Minister Modi said that we have agreed on the India-Russia economic cooperation program until 2030. After talks with President Putin, PM Modi said that India has advocated for peace on the Ukraine issue from the very beginning. He further said that cooperation between India and Russia in essential minerals is crucial to ensure secure and diversified supply chains worldwide.
The Prime Minister also said that India and Russia are working towards the early completion of the FTA with the Eurasian Economic Union. India has always been ready to contribute to bringing peace to Ukraine and will continue to do so in the future. We welcome all efforts being made for a peaceful and lasting solution to the Ukraine conflict. Putin praises India's hospitality.
Russian President Putin said, "I thank the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, and Prime Minister Modi, as well as all our Indian colleagues, for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the Russian delegation. I also thank Prime Minister Modi for the dinner last night."
