Washington: The grand White House state dinner hosted by US President Donald Trump for Chinese President Xi Jinping featured some of the biggest names from global politics, business and technology. Among the prominent guests were several Indian origin personalities who have become global leaders in the technology sector.
The dinner, held during Xi Jinping’s US visit, saw the presence of Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Micron Technology CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. Their participation highlighted the growing influence of Indian-origin executives in global technology leadership.
Satya Nadella
The Microsoft chief executive, who was born in Hyderabad, has played a major role in shaping the company’s global cloud and artificial intelligence strategy.
Sundar Pichai
The Google and Alphabet CEO, originally from Chennai, was among the top technology leaders present at the event. Pichai has been a key figure in the global AI race.
Sanjay Mehrotra
The Micron Technology CEO, who was born in Kanpur, also attended the dinner. His company operates in the semiconductor sector, a key area in US-China technology competition.
Usha Vance
US Vice President JD Vance’s wife and Second Lady of the United States was also among the Indian-origin guests at the event.
The guest list reflected the importance of technology in US-China relations. Along with Indian-origin leaders, the dinner included several major global technology figures such as Elon Musk, Tim Cook, Sam Altman, Jensen Huang and Mark Zuckerberg.
With artificial intelligence, semiconductors and global trade emerging as key areas of competition and cooperation between Washington and Beijing, the presence of technology leaders added significance to the gathering.
