New Delhi: Tensions between the US and Iran have deepened amid widespread unrest and protests in Iran. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued a stern warning to the US, stating that any aggressive action against the country's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, would be tantamount to a "full-blown war" against the Iranian nation.
Posting on the social media platform X on Sunday, President Pezeshkian said the US should exercise extreme caution. He clearly stated that any aggression against Iran's Supreme Leader would be considered a war against the entire nation. Pezeshkian also alleged that the inhumane sanctions imposed by the US and its allies are a major cause of the hardships and difficulties the Iranian people are facing.

In his message, the Iranian President said, "If the people of Iran are facing difficult circumstances and hardships today, the main reason behind this is the long-standing hostility and harsh sanctions imposed by the US government and its allies." He blamed the US for Iran's internal situation and said that economic pressure has made life extremely difficult for ordinary citizens.
Pezeshkian's warning comes at a time when US President Donald Trump has recently made statements about possible intervention in Iran. Last week, Trump said that Iran had crossed a "red line" by violently cracking down on protesters. He also indicated that the US and its military are seriously considering the situation and are considering tough options.
Massive protests have been ongoing in Iran since December. Initially, these protests began against rising inflation, the weakening of the Rial currency, and economic hardship, but soon evolved into a national movement against the government and its system.

According to reports approximately 4,000 people have died in these protests so far, while approximately 24,000 protesters have been arrested. However, the Iranian government has not yet released any official death toll. Recently, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei stated that "several thousand" people have died in these protests and blamed the US for this.
Given the evolving situation, Iranian officials expect the death toll to rise. Meanwhile, the international community is closely monitoring the Iran-US tensions and the internal situation there.
